I am wanting to make two back ups,1 of all my programs on my desktop and 1 complete back up of hard disks.?

I am wanting to make 2 back ups to CD of my programs on my desk top and the other of a complete hard drive + operating system.I have loads of burning software and will list in the hope someone can explain which software and how to do it!.Nero Start Smart,Ashampoo Burning Studio,Paragon Drive Backup 8-5.
Please can anyone help as I have been told to always back up it’s important.
I would also like to install Ubuntu Linux to give it a try.I have a spare hard drive with no info on it,would it be o.k. to install to that with XP running on the computer also.

As for install Ubuntu Linux just put your old/blank drive in with your main PC and set this to SLAVE drive ,then boot up your PC with a ubuntu CD disk and this should format you old drive

Ps this ubuntu download will be an ISO image and will have to be burned on to a CD disc
