To join the ladder, you must install Ventrilo and ask
administration for the settings. You can also visit Orb's site at
www.tctu.com to see a screen shot of "push-to-talk" settings for Ventrilo. Push-to-talk is superior to duplex setups. Duplex allows too much background noise to be heard by all players. Push-to-talk virtually eliminates this problem.
1.06 MOD Ladder has just been activated! As of January 9, 2006, Ruffain created the "Links LS Mod 106 Ladder". The MOD is available to download on the navigation bar. MOD 106 makes the green surface faster in all conditions. You can also create a player while in MOD 1.06.
Ladders in the past also had too many "gray areas". We feel we have addressed these gray areas in the rules, i.e. NO MULLIES in Stroke or Match play.
Why no Mullies? Mullies can accidentally be taken by pressing the
right mouse button during game play, thus causing problems. Should the game crash or you get disconnected from the Internet, return to Ventrilo ASAP and resume your game. The host will resume the game regardless of how good or how bad the last shot was played by any player. DO NOT argue about your last shot, you take what you get when the game resumes.
Mullies in stroke or match have proven themselves to be more of a disruption, then a solution.
Ventrilo Rooms: Please use common courtesy when entering ANY room
on DM_ Duck's Server.
Chipping on Greens: You may chip on a green ONLY when the fairway, rough or when obstructions are between you and hole.
Resumed Games: DO NOT try and repeat your shot, shoot to improve your shot. If you do worse, grin and bare it. If you do better
good for you. Less whining means more respect, and you will find more games regardless of your rank.
Returning to a Game: You have 10 minutes to return to a resumed game. If you cannot return to a game within 10 minutes, you MUST POST to all players in that game. No excuses.
POSTING All players in a round must post to the winner first. DO NOTpre-post winners. Wait until the round is finished.
SCREEN SHOT is a feature in Links 2003: Anytime during game play and especially at the end of a round, you can press "printscr" on your keyboard. A .bmp image will be created in your Links 2003 folder under
Programs/Microsoft games/Links 2003. The upside of screen shots, you'll never have to write another name down, you will have a perfect record of the outcome of a round and you have a record of your scores for however long you want to keep them. Having to create screen shots is not mandatory, but why wouldn't you use it? Visit Orb's Site www.tctu.com for a screenshot tutorial on how to use this
feature in Links 2003.
Cow Pasture Pool MOP: Addendum
02/20/06: Rotating the player to putt to the fringe when a bogie is inevitable, is allowed ONE TIME per hole. Any player attempting this more than one time per hole, will automatically have to post to EVERYONE in that round. The HOST may choose none or up to THREE MULLIES. They cost money when you use them and can make or break a player's strategy during the round. Disconnections and crashed games: If someone crashes or disconnects too often during a game, contact Ruffain by email, ICQ or in Ventrilo.
This technology has advanced to such a level that crashed games, terminated Internet connections, etc., are rare. If a person CANNOT return to the game, he/she will post a loss to all players. There are NO EXCUSES!
MOPS. Stroke or Match are to be played when
players are NOT acquainted. Friends can play any MOP they desire as long as all agree to that MOP. Nine or Eighteen Holes: Host must speak to other players and all must agree to 9 or 18 holes.
HOSTING: The LOWEST RANKED PLAYER will HOST THE GAME or defer to the next higher
ranked player. This assures that the top players do not play the same conditions repeatedly, and gives the lower player a chance to pick his/her favorite course and conditions.
THE HOST chooses all conditions, including BREEZE. However, the host must talk to all the players before choosing a
Custom MOP or Wind
conditions.
NOTE: Please encourage your fellow players to read this page. There are far fewer rules here than most ladders. However, if everyone reads this page, they will have more fun during their rounds.
1.There are no Tie's.
2.Mullies are to be set to OFF.
3.The Loser MUST POST as soon as the game is over.
4.If you forget to POST you will lose 20 RUNGS on the Ladder.
5. All ladder games must be played "with Ventrilo. (Duck's Server)
*this allows all players to see and communicate with the top players*
6. All TOP FIVE players must have 4 different players posted on their records in 48 hours
or be penalized 15 rungs. NO EXCEPTIONS.
A short explanation of the ladder system is as follows:
A ladder is an ongoing method of ranking players who are competing in a game.
It is called a ladder because it operates on the principle of rank or rungs. Your ranking/rung
on the ladder indicates how good you are as compared to the other players. When you sign
up you start at the bottom of the ladder. Your goal is to climb the ladder to the #1 spot.
When you beat someone you move up half the distance between their rank and yours. So
if you were at the #100 rank and beat the #1 player, you move to #50. All players ranked
50-99 slide down one rung to make room for you.
What happens if you lose? Your rank remains the same. You lose rungs on the Ladder
when other players jump ahead of you, forcing you down. The only exception comes
when you lose to the person directly beneath you. In this case you switch spots.
Because of the way this sytem works, it encourages members to play because not
playing for a couple days can cause you to lose your place as others play and jump ahead of you
